That initiative is backed by morethan $4 billionj that was earmarked in the federal stimulus packagew President Barack Obama signed this year. On top of the granty to Franklin County and severalother municipal-level awards totalinb $6.
55 million, Ohio is receiving more than $38 millionb through the same program and must disburse part of the funds to local jurisdictions. Holdef said the funds are aimed at supportinyg job creation and training in a wide rangeof law-enforcemeng areas. “By addressing Ohio’s economifc challenges while simultaneously meetingthe state’es public safety priorities, these funds represent the best of what the (Americah Investment and) Recovery Act can do for our communities,” Holderr said in a release. “This vital funding will help figh crime and buildsafer communities, and we look forwarfd to continued work with Ohio to addresz these criminal-justice goals.
